Apple launch the video iPod and iTunes 6...

Apple and Disney agree deal to sell top US shows for viewing on iPod

Apple have launched the new iPod which can play video on its new wider TFT screen. The new iPod is thinner than its predecessor, but has a larger screen and better battery life.
The video iPod comes in two colours- the traditional white, and a new black model. There are also two sizes available: the entry level 20GB, and the 60GB top of the range model.
iTunes 6 is a free download and allows users to buy music videos. In the US, consumers can buy episodes from top US shows. To make this happen, Apple teamed up with Disney and launched 5 shows which are available for purchase from the iTunes Store for the US. The shows include Desperate Housewives and Lost. Consumers can buy all episodes from season one of these shows, and as season two progresses, Apple will make the shows available the day after broadcast. Each show costs $1.99.
iTunes 6 arrives soon after iTunes 5. iTunes 5 was launched in August, and the new features in version 6 centre around the new video section of the iTunes store and a new "video" section in the iTunes sidebar.
The new iPods are available at the Irish Apple Store and other retail outlets.
