New iMac G5 is announced...

iSight camera now built into the new iMac

Apple announced the new iMac yesterday (12th October 2005). The new model comes with some ground breaking features, such as a built-in iSight camera for video conferencing (using iChat AV). It also comes with a new Apple remote control, which works with the included Front Row media software. Front Row is an interface which allows you to turn your iMac into an entertainment system, to play your music and watch movies.
The new remote control has 6 buttons and controls iPhoto, DVD player, iTunes and QuickTime movies. It also lets you play videos downloaded from the new iTunes 6 video store.
The new built in iSight camera comes with higher spec that the original iSight camera, and allows iMac owners to video conference with their friends and family using the built in iChat AV software. Apple also introduced a small application called Photo Booth, which uses the iSight camera to take pictures.
The new iMac is thinner than its predecessor, comes with a faster G5 processor and better graphics card. There are two versions- one with a 17" display and the other with a 20" display. Both now come with a built in SuperDrive for reading and creating CDs and DVDs.
The new iMac is available at the Irish Apple Store and other retail outlets.
