Introduction:
The first MacBook Pro was introduced in January 2006 and the most recent version was updated in February 2011, and was the first Apple laptop to contain an Intel processor. The MacBook Pro is the top of the range Apple laptop. It comes with a dual-core processor which brings high speed when working with power hungry applications. It also includes an iSight camera, built into the lid, and a Power Adapter called a "MagSafe". This disconnects immediately if it is pulled, and should protect your laptop if someone trips on its power cable.

All MacBook Pros come with a unibody design, where the aluminium casing is made from one piece, making it strong and robust.
The MacBook Pro's trackpad is a "gestures trackpad", called the Multi-touch trackpad. This works like an iPhone or iPod touch where the user can "pinch" or "swipe" using their fingers on the trackpad. They also have new graphics cards which offers very fast speeds for video.

In February 2011 Apple added a new Thunderbolt port to the MacBook Pro, allowing it to connect to new high-speed devices such as external hard drives.

The MacBook Pro currently has the following connectors (ports) and features:
  • USB 2.0 (for printers, cameras, scanners, iPhone etc.).
  • Thunderbolt port for connecting to high speed external drives
    • FireWire 800 for connecting to external drives and video cameras
    • mini-DisplayPort (to connect a digital display or a VGA projector).
    • Multi-touch trackpad for "gestures" such as swipe and pinch (as with the iPhone or iPod touch).
    • Sound in and headphone socket.
    • "Gigabit" ethernet (high speed ethernet for high speed networks)
  • SD slot for camera cards
    • Also includes a MagSafe power adapter
